Peter Bobrowsky
Dr. Peter Bobrowsky is a Canadian consultant, scholar, teacher and researcher who is trained in anthropology, archaeology and engineering geology. His 40-year career has focused on understanding and explaining the crucial links between a diverse and dynamically changing Earth and the evolving adaptation of societies and people to their environment across the globe. He is an accomplished professional with some 500 publications to his credit and has frequently appeared in Canadian print and television media. His award-winning “The Landslide Handbook,” written for the general public, is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese and Japanese courtesy of The World Bank.
Peter’s lifelong passion for exploration and travel has taken him to 118 countries through multinational and United Nations–funded research projects to Petra, Machu Picchu, India, Italy, China and elsewhere. He is the recipient of numerous awards, notably the Eugene Shoemaker Communications Award for Best Book, the Edward B. Burwell Jr. Award for Engineering Geology, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the James Harrison Outstanding Achievement Award. Dr. Bobrowsky has a prominent history of international positions and appointments, in particular Secretary General of the International Union of Geological Sciences, President of the Canadian Quaternary Association, President of the Geological Association of Canada, and President of the International Consortium on Landslides. A born extrovert, with an easygoing manner, Peter’s unique, informative and enthusiastic speaking style have made him a popular global public speaker and much sought-after and well-liked lecturer for the past 20 years with TCS Expeditions.
